The game sports massive stages that are really fun to explore, and despite the game being only a few hours long (less than 2 if you know what you're doing), I've spent many hours just exploring what different stages have to offer (yes, even more than my profile says, as I owned a DRM free copy from GoG for several months before I bought the game again on Steam). I'd be hard pressed to think of a single song that is “bad”, “boring”, or out of place, and I frequently listen to the soundtrack since I bought it almost two years ago.įor all of the trash talk Freedom Planet gets on its physics, Freedom Planet, from a gameplay perspective, is actually really nice (well, at least as Lilac and Carol anyways). It's also sporting a really memorable and catchy soundtrack, especially for a platformer. Yes, there are a few glaring sprite inconsistencies here and there, but for the most part, it looks like something you'd see off the Sega Saturn (and I've actually seen people think this WAS a Saturn game), which is most certainly welcome. Heck, even since two years ago when the game first came out, there hasn't been any (indie) games that look this gorgeous. Freedom Planet is by no means bad, it's just.well, let's just speak of the positives first.įreedom Planet has some of the best pixel artwork I've seen in a while. With the newest update to the game, as well as the policies GalaxyTrail has with how they do business, I no longer can support anything with their name on it. I remember about a year ago, I was a die hard supporter of this game and it's creators, GalaxyTrail, but I wanted to wait until all 5 characters were at least playable (officially) in some form. It was too long to fit in the space allocated to Steam reviews, so I will post the original unabridged version here. Hello, the following was originally a review for Freedom Planet.
